Craig Kielburger, the co-founder of Free the Children, is great on camera…after all, he has been doing public appearances and TV work since 1995, when at the age of 12 he started his foundation for children’s rights and empowerment. He has appeared as a host on CTV, and as a guest on Degrassi, The Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN, 60 Minutes and The Today Show.
Now Craig is hosting Shameless Idealists, the series of programs we are producing for Free the Children.
We recently completed shooting the host segments and are currently in final stages of editing the five half-hour videos. We expect to wrap the shows in July with a broad release on TV, the web and to thousands of schools this fall. The videos highlight the compelling stories of some of the luminaries who were speakers at this past year’s We Day events across Canada.
It was a privilege and great pleasure to meet and work with the inspiring people who are being featured in these videos – Richard Branson and Holly Branson,Magic Johnson, Roméo Dallaire and Michel Chikwanine, Nelly Furtado and Rick Hansen. The five programs include in-depth interviews with the subjects, tracing how they moved from their modest roots to celebrity status and how they converted their fame into positive forces for change. Woven throughout are personal observations by Craig Kielburger and visual materials illustrating key moments in the lives of our Shameless Idealists.
Stay tuned here for more information and a peak at some clips from the series.
