The Economist Film Project has selected our new feature documentary, Raw Opium: Pain, Pleasure, Profits, to be one of the first 12 independent world issues documentaries featured in collaboration with PBS NewsHour. The project will include a special webpage about Raw Opium and a special short clip from Raw Opium airing on PBS NewsHour in the USA and Canada, September 29th.
After three years of development and production, it’s good to see that Raw Opium will get the level of exposure it needs to spark the debate around drug policy in North America.
The Economist Film Project selected each of the documentaries involved because “their new perspectives and insights not only help make sense of world events, but also take a stand and provoke debate.”
Thanks to Open Society Foundations’ Global Drug Policy Program and their support; we are collaborating with organizations on panel discussions and screenings being scheduled in Victoria, Dallas, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, DC, New York, Montreal, London and Glasgow. Details about screenings as they are confirmed are found on rawopium.com.
The full 2-part documentary for television will also be broadcast nationally on TVO, and broadcast news will be posted at a later date.
